Create a Recording with Speech Studio

Speech Studio turns text into a natural-sounding recording, for a phone menu greeting, a voicemail greeting or an announcement. You choose the voice, add pauses where you want them, and listen before you save.

Before You Start

You need access to Call Routing in the EMAK Web App (Sign In to the EMAK Web App). If you don’t see Speech Studio, ask your account administrator.

Create a Recording

1. In the left menu, under Call Routing, click Speech Studio. You can also click Generate With AI on the Recordings page.

2. Type a name for the recording at the top of the page and press Enter. The rest of the page opens once the recording has a name.
3. Choose a voice on the right. Click ▶ next to a voice to hear it, or use the search and the Male and Female filters. For French, choose a French (Canada) voice such as Sylvie or Antoine.
4. Type your text.
5. To add a pause, click where you want it in the text, choose its length under Pause (from Shortest to Longest), then click +.
6. Click ▶ above the text to hear the recording. Change the text or the voice and listen again until it sounds right.
7. Click Save at the top right. The recording appears on the Recordings page.

Use the Recording

A saved recording can be chosen wherever the EMAK Web App asks for a greeting, for example under Greeting on a phone menu (Edit a Phone Menu).

Tips

• Listen before you save, especially to phone numbers, addresses and names. If one isn’t read the way you want, change how it’s written (for example, put spaces between the digits) and listen again.
• Speed: select part of the text, then move the Rate slider to make it slower or faster.
• Two languages in one recording: select the sentence in the other language and choose it under Language. Voices with a globe icon speak several languages.
