How to Manage Multiple Calls on a Yealink Phone

Yealink phones let you manage several calls at the same time — speaking to one caller while others wait on hold. This guide covers switching between calls, the actions available for the currently selected call, and how to place a second outgoing call without ending the one you are on.

Switch Between Calls

To switch between calls on most Yealink phones, press the up and down arrow keys until you see the call you want to manage. On touchscreen models, scroll through the calls directly on the screen.

Available Call Actions

Depending on the state of the call you have selected, you can perform any of the following actions:

  • Transfertransfer the call to another number or extension.
  • Resume — place the current call on hold and switch to the selected call.
  • New Call — place the current call on hold and dial a new outbound call.
  • Swap — when only two calls are active, instantly switch between them.
  • Holdput the selected call on hold.
  • Conference — start a three-way conference with the selected call.
  • End Call — hang up the selected call only, leaving any other calls untouched.

Place a Second Call While One Is Active

  1. Place the active call on hold.
  2. Press the New Call soft key.
  3. Dial the number you want to reach. Tip: you can also press a speed-dial key, pick a contact from the directory, choose an entry from your call history, or pick a result from a contact search.
  4. Press the OK key or the Call soft key to start the new call.

Multiple Calls FAQ

How many calls can I have on my Yealink at once?

It depends on the model and how the line keys are configured. Most Yealink desk phones support several simultaneous calls — the line key and on-screen counter will indicate how many you have queued. If you regularly need more lines, contact EMAK Telecom support and we can adjust your configuration.

What is the difference between Swap and Resume?

Swap is a quick toggle between exactly two calls — one active and one on hold. Resume is what you press when there are more than two calls and you want to bring the highlighted held call back to active.

Can I conference all of my held calls together?

The Yealink built-in conference is limited to three parties (you and two others). To bring more parties into one call, transfer them to the EMAK Telecom conference bridge instead.

What happens if I hang up my desk phone with calls on hold?

Hanging up the handset on most Yealink models does not drop held calls — they remain on hold and you can pick them back up. Use the End Call soft key on a specific call to disconnect that one only.
