How to Put a Call on Hold on a Yealink Phone
Putting a call on hold mutes both parties so neither can hear each other, while the caller hears your music on hold. This guide covers placing a call on hold, resuming it, and switching between several held calls on a Yealink phone.
Place a Call on Hold
- During an active call, press the Hold soft key.
The phone will beep softly every 30 seconds to remind you that you still have a call on hold.
Resume a Held Call
Press the Resume soft key on the screen of the held call to bring it back. The caller will be able to hear you again immediately.
Manage Multiple Calls on Hold
If you have several calls on hold at once, the screen shows a counter such as 1/2 — meaning you are looking at the first of two held calls.
- Use the up
and down 
arrows to switch between held calls. - Press Resume to retrieve the call currently shown on screen.
The reminder beep continues every 30 seconds as long as any call is on hold.
What the Caller Hears
When a call is on hold, you and the caller cannot hear each other. The caller hears your account’s default music on hold. To change your music on hold, see Music on Hold Samples, or contact EMAK Telecom support by emailing [email protected], dialling *611, or calling (514) 400-0226 and selecting option 2.

Will the caller know they are on hold?
Yes. The caller will hear your music on hold and will not be able to hear you or anything happening in your room. They cannot hear you talking to other people while they wait.
How many calls can I have on hold at once?
It depends on the phone model and the number of line keys configured. Most Yealink desk phones support several simultaneous held calls — the on-screen counter (for example, 1/3) shows how many you have queued.
How do I stop the reminder beep?
The beep is a built-in reminder that you have a held call. To stop it, either resume the held call or end it. The beep cannot be permanently disabled because it is there to prevent forgotten callers from being left on hold indefinitely.
