How to Block Calls on EMAK Telecom

Call block lets you stop specific numbers from getting through to your EMAK Telecom phone system. Each blocked number can be rejected, sent a busy signal, put on hold, or routed straight to a voicemail box. Call block applies across your entire phone system, so it is the right tool for stopping repeat spam callers and unwanted contacts.

Who Can Enable Call Block

Because call block applies system-wide, only admin or power user accounts can enable it by default. If you do not have the right permissions, contact your company administrator or EMAK Telecom support to request access.

How to Block a Number

  1. Sign in to the EMAK Telecom phone portal and click Call Routing > Call Block.

  1. Click the + ADD button on the right side of the screen.
  2. Fill in the following fields:
  • Number — the exact phone number to block, with no spaces, dashes, or other characters.
  • Name — a label so you can recognize the entry later. This is for your reference only.
  • Action — what happens when the blocked number calls (see below).
  • Enabled — set to on so the rule takes effect.

Available Block Actions

  • Reject — rejects the call.
  • Busy — sends the caller a busy signal.
  • Hold — puts the call on hold.
  • Voicemail — sends the call straight to the voicemail box you specify.

Quick Tip: Block From Recent Calls

On the Call Block — Add screen, you will see a Recent Calls list. To quickly block a number that just called you, click the recent call to select it and then click the BLOCK button. The number will be added to your block list immediately, with no need to retype it.

See How Often a Number Has Been Blocked

On the main Call Block screen, the Count column shows how many times each blocked caller has tried to reach your system. This is a useful indicator of which entries are still actively trying to get through.

Call Block FAQ

What is the difference between Reject, Busy, and Hold?

Reject ends the call cleanly — most callers will hear a quick hang-up. Busy plays a busy tone, which can deter automated callers from calling back as quickly. Hold places the caller on hold indefinitely, which can tie up automated diallers. Reject is the right choice in most cases.

Can I send a blocked number to voicemail instead of hanging up?

Yes. Choose Voicemail as the action and select the voicemail box you want the call to go to. This is useful when you want to record what a persistent caller is saying without speaking to them.

Why can’t I see the Call Block menu?

Call block applies to the whole phone system, so by default it is restricted to admin or power user accounts. Ask your company administrator to give you the right permissions, or contact EMAK Telecom support for help.

Does call block stop spoofed caller IDs?

Call block matches on the caller ID number that arrives on your phone system. If a spammer changes the number they spoof, the new number will not be blocked. For broader protection, see our article on caller ID spoofing for additional steps you can take.
