How to Use Call Privacy on EMAK Telecom
Call Privacy lets you block your name and phone number from showing on the caller ID of the person you are calling. The feature is included with your EMAK Telecom service at no extra charge.
How to Use Call Privacy
- Dial *67 before the destination phone number.
- The full dial string looks like this: *67(destination#). For example, dial
*675145551234to call514-555-1234with caller ID hidden. - The person you are calling will see something like Unknown, Private, or Blocked on their caller ID instead of your number.
Turn Off Call Privacy
Call Privacy applies only to the call you prefix with *67 — your next call will show your normal caller ID again. If your account has a permanent privacy override enabled and you want to send your caller ID for a single call, dial *68 followed by the destination number to unblock that one call.
Call Privacy FAQ
Does *67 work on every call?
You can use *67 on any outbound call placed from an EMAK Telecom phone or softphone. Note that some destinations — like 911, toll-free 8XX numbers, and certain government services — receive your caller ID anyway because they require it by law.
Will the person I am calling know it is me?
Their caller ID will display Unknown, Private, or similar. They will not see your number or name unless you tell them. Some recipients have call-blocking rules that automatically reject anonymous calls — if your privacy-blocked calls are not getting through, the recipient may have anonymous-call rejection turned on.
How do I always block my caller ID?
If you want every outbound call to send a blocked caller ID by default, contact EMAK Telecom support and we can apply a permanent privacy override on your extension or your whole company. You can still dial *68 before a number to send your caller ID for that single call.
Does Call Privacy cost anything?
No. Call Privacy is included with your EMAK Telecom service. Use it as often as you need.
