Factory Reset a Polycom Phone Without the Password
If you purchased a used Polycom phone, or if the phone was previously deployed by another provider, the administrator password may have been changed.
Step 1: Try the Default Password
The default Polycom administrator password is 456. Before resetting the phone without a password, try a standard factory reset with the default password.
- Press the Home button.
- Scroll to Settings and select it.
- Go to Advanced.
- Enter the administrator password. The default is 456.
- Go to Administration Settings.
- Go to Reset to Defaults.
- Select Reset To Factory.
- Select Yes when prompted to confirm.
If the default password does not work, continue with the reset procedure below.
Step 2: Reset a Polycom Phone Without the Password
Locate the MAC address on the sticker on the back of the phone. This is a 12-digit value. Write it down, because you will need to enter it as the reset password later.
- Power off the phone by unplugging the power or network cable.
- Plug the phone back in.
- When you see Cancel, press the Cancel button.
- Quickly press and hold the key combination for your model:

- After holding the correct keys during boot, the phone should prompt for an administrator password.
- Enter the phone MAC address as the password. Use the keypad and switch between numeric and alphanumeric entry modes as needed.
Polycom Factory Reset Password Tool
Enter a valid 12-digit Polycom MAC address beginning with 64167F or 0004F2. The tool will show the keypad sequence for entering the password.
- After the password is entered correctly, confirm the final reset prompt. The phone should reboot to complete the factory reset.
- If the password is entered incorrectly, press Cancel on the next screen to return to the password prompt and try again.
